YFFL Rules

€Opening Draft
A week before the commencement of the league's inaugural season, the Opening Draft will be done. The order was randomly selected as follows:
1) Michael 2
2) Marc
3) Danny
4) Oren
5) Michael 1
6) Rocky Smashers
7) Rocky Mountaineers
8) Ahud
After the first round goes in the order that was selected randomly, the second round will be the reverse of that order, all following odd-numbered rounds will be in the same order as Round 1, and all following even-numbered rounds will be in the same order as Round 2, thus making the order 1...8 8...1 1...8 8...1 etc. There will be at least 25 rounds in the Opening Draft. Any player who has been drafted in an NFL Draft or is currently in the NFL may be selected.
€Free Agents
Each team in the league will be given ~~Yoni Yunits~~ ¥¥s ~~(¥¥4 for the first season)~~ after the YFFL draft of each season which will be taken away at the end of the NFL Superbowl. During the period when ¥¥'s are active, any player, with the exceptions noted below, who has been drafted in an NFL Draft or is currently in the NFL or who has played in the NFL and is not currently on a fantasy team in the YFFL may be purchased by any team for ¥¥1 according to the rules below. When a player is purchased in this manner, as many league members as possible should be notified as soon as possible and the time and date should be recorded.
Certain restrictions regulate the purchases of free agent kickers and quarterbacks. Kickers not currently on NFL teams may not be purchased. A kicker who is signed by an NFL team during the period when ¥¥'s are active must be entered into a special lottery, to be described below, before he is purchased. If a starting quarterback or a backup quarterback starting for any reason is injured, his replacement may not be purchased before being entered into the special lottery.
For a special lottery for a specific player, each team in the YFFL is given one lottery ball, and the balls are selected in a random order. The first team selected has the opportunity to purchase the player for ¥¥1. If he declines to make this purchase, the next team has the same opportunity, and so on until the player is purchased. When a player is purchased in this manner, as many league members as possible should be notified as soon as possible and the date should be recorded. If no team wishes to make this purchase, the player becomes a regular free agent and any team may purchase him. With the exceptions noted below, YYs can only be spent as part of YY Drafts. In other words, it will no longer be possible to pick players up during games or at any time other than your turn in a YY Draft. There will be six or seven YY Drafts during the season:
- after the preseason draft
- before Q1 (depending on scheduling this may be combined with the post-draft YY Draft)
- before Q2
- before Q3
- before Q4
- before the YFFL playoffs
- after the end of the NFL regular season
Exceptions: There will be YY free-for-all periods when anyone can spend a YY between the end of each YY Draft and the beginning of each quarter and between the last YY Draft and the end of the NFL Superbowl.
A YY Draft is a structured opportunity to pick players up with YYs. The YY draft will work like the preseason draft with these exceptions:

    > the order will be determined as follows:
        * post-draft & pre-Q1 YY Drafts - same order as rookie draft
        * pre-Q2, pre-Q3, pre-Q4, pre-YFFL playoffs - reverse of finishes from previous quarter
        * post-NFL regular season - same order as following year's rookie draft
    > draft picks cost a YY
    > teams may pass and not take anyone when their turn comes up
    > there will be a reasonable time limit for each pick; after time expires, the team is assumed to pass
    > the draft will continue until a round goes by with no picks
    > teams that pass are entitled to go back to their picks and pick a player who has not been picked up yet (in picks before or after their pick) and continue as if the player had been picked up in-turn

€Trading
Teams may trade players, ~~Yoni Yunits~~ ¥¥s, and/or draft picks at any time during the year, except for September 10, Sarah Fishman's birthday (exception added 4/6/03). Any players traded after the beginning of the fourth quarter are not eligible for play in the YFFL playoffs and Superbowl. If more than half of the owners whose teams are not involved in the trade vote to veto the trade because they think that the trade is unfair, then the trade is nullified. People who do not approve of the trade have the right to have consultations with the involved parties before the deal is approved.
€Schedule
The season is divided into four quarters: 123 4567 8910 111213. Each team provides a 20 man active roster for each quarter to the person doing the team for the quarter at least three days before the quarter begins. Each week the scores of the highest scoring QB, K, 2WR, & 2RB are added to the team's total for the quarter. The highest team for the quarter advances to the playoffs. If there is a tie, use the most recent week, followed by the 2nd most recent....
€Playoffs/Superbowl
Weeks 14-15 of the NFL season are the playoffs. They are played like any quarter except that the winner of the first quarter and the winner of the second quarter compete against each other only and likewise with the winners of the third and fourth quarters. In the event that both playoff matchups have the same two teams (thereby precluding the possible of an actual superbowl), the playoffs shall be played as one four-week quarter during weeks 14-17. (rule added 8/20/04) Weeks 16-17 of the NFL season are used as the YFFL Superbowl. The winners of the two playoff series play each other just like a playoff series~~, except that they must use the same lineups as they used in the playoffs~~. The winner of the Superbowl is the champion.
€NFL Playoffs
The NFL playoffs will be played like a regular quarter with a prize of ¥¥1 for the next season.
€Positions
A player can play only the position in the section of which he is listed in The Sporting News Football Yearbook. It is the only source of positions that will be accepted in this league.

€Next Season ¥¥
Each team gets ¥¥3 after each season's draft other than the first. For the next season, the winner of each quarter gets an additional ¥¥1, and each team gets ¥¥1 for each playoff/Superbowl series won. The winner of the NFL playoffs also gets ¥¥1. Each team gets ¥¥4 after each season's draft.
€Keeping Players
At the end of the year, each team can keep any 22 players for the next season. If a team chooses to protect fewer than 22 players, for each player fewer it gets a pick in the round of the draft after its last scheduled pick in its regular position in the drafting order. For example, if Danny protects 21 players, he picks on his turn in each of the first four rounds. If he protects 20 players, he picks at his turn in each of the first five rounds. If at any time after protections have been submitted and before the beginning of the YFFL draft, a player who has been protected or cut has a material change in status in the NFL, the player's YFFL owner may make a change to his protections subject to these limitations: if the owner had cut the player, he may protect the player and, if desired, cut another player instead; if the owner had retained the player, he may cut the player, and, if desired, retain a different player who had been cut. €Draft Order
For the next season's draft, the past season's results determine the order. The teams that won no quarters get the first picks. Their order is determined by their average placements in the quarters of the past season. The team with the worst average placement drafts first. If there is a tie, the team that scored fewer points for the season drafts first. Teams that reached the playoffs but not the Superbowl draft next, with their order determined in the same way as that of those who did not reach the playoffs. The Superbowl loser drafts next, and the Superbowl winner drafts last.
€Next Season's Draft
At the beginning of all seasons after the first, a draft will be held with the same rules as the Opening Draft with three exceptions:
a) The same order is used for each round
b) There will be at least three rounds plus extra rounds which depend upon the number of players protected.
c) Players protected from the previous season can't be drafted.
Once this draft is over, each team gets its ~~Yoni Yunits~~ ¥¥s for the next season.

These rules may be changed with the support of 75% of the league's owners. (rule added 12/2/03)
